Mr. Chaplain presented a petition from sundry citizens of
this State, with reference to enacting laws for the better
regulation of the free negro and slave population of the
State;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, presented a petition from Wil-
liam Wilkens and others, for certain relief;

Referred to the committee on Oysters.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from Jacob Winchester,
of Anne Arundel county, in favor of oyster dredging;.

Referred to the committee on Oysters.

Mr. McAllister presented a petition praying the passage
of an act to compensate Captain George W. Bowers and
others, of Baltimore city, for services at Harper's Ferry;

Referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Brown presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Maryland, in relation to the Baltimore and Washington
Turnpike Road company;

Referred to the committee on Corporations...
On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,

, Leave was granted the committee on Claims to introduce
a bill to refund to Levin Woolford, clerk of the Circuit court
for Somerset county, a sum of money erroneously paid into
the State Treasury.

Mr. Naill presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, praying that an act may be passed, author-
ising Lewis M. Matter and Henry Rouzer, to convey certain
church property therein mentioned;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Frederick county,
raying the passage of an act to incorporate the parsonage
house of the German Reformed church in Emmittsburg, in
said county;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
On motion of Mr. Straughn.

Leave was granted the committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill entitled, a supplement to the act entitled, an
act for the promotion of internal improvements, passed at
December session 1835, chapter 395.
