Church, in the city of Baltimore.
On motion of Mr. Turner, of Baltimore city,
Leave was granted the committee on Corporations to intro-
duce a bill to alter and amend the seventh section of article
eight of the act of incorporation of the Howard Bank of Bal-
timore.
Mr. Freaner offered the following:
Ordered, That the witnesses summoned by the committee
on Elections, by authority of this House, be allowed mileage
and a per diem of four dollars, to be paid as the officers and
members of this House are now paid, on presentation of the
certificate of the chairman of the committee on Elections;
Referred to the committee on Claims.
Mr. Briscoe submitted the following:
Resolved, That the commissioners of public works of this
State be instructed to report to the committee of Internal Im-
provements, the rates of tolls of the several railroads of this
State, in which the State is interested as a stockholder or
creditor, and the rates of tolls on the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal.
Resolved, That the said commissioners of public works, be
instructed to report to the said committee on Internal Improve-
ments, whether any legislation is necessary to prevent inju-
rious competition between the several public works of this
State, in which the State is interested as a stockholder or
creditor.
Resolved, That the committee heretofore charged by order of
this House, with powers to inquire into certain allegations
made against the Baltimore and Ohio railroad company, be
be instructed to report to the said committee of Internal Im-
provements.
Resolved, That the said committee of Internal Improvements
be requested to advise with the commissioners of public works,
touching the matters inquired of in said last named order,
and that they report on all the matter referred to them by
these resolutions, by bill or otherwise.
