Mr. Welch presented a petition from George B. Stewart,
William Ireland and J. R. Owens, asking for arms for the
West River Guards;

Referred to the committee on the Militia.

Mr. Stake presented a petition from 75 citizens of Clear
Spring district in Washington county, praying an alteration
in the method of collecting taxes in said county, by appoint-
ment of a collector in each election district;

Referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Mills presented a petition from J. B. Berrett, A. T.
C. Brown, R. H. Thompson and others, praying for an act
authorising the commissioners court of Carroll county, to
levy the sum of fifty dollars annually, for the benefit of Brice
Shipley, an old soldier of 1812;

Referred to the Carroll county delegation.

Mr. Legg presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Maryland, praying that an act be passed, to prohibit the
citizens of other States from violating the oyster laws of this
State;

Referred to the committee on Fish and Oysters.

Mr. Johnson presented a petition from A. G. Quinn and
sundry other citizens of Frederick county, praying to amend
the 67th section of the 30th article of the code of general
laws, so far as it relates to Frederick county;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.                   

Mr. Wilson, of Cecil, presented a petition in relation to
staking gilling nets on the Chesapeake bay;

Referred to the committee on Fish and Oysters.

Mr. Naill presented a petition from sundry citizens of Fred-
erick and Carroll counties, praying for the location and open-
ing of a public road therein mentioned;

Referred to the Frederick and Carroll county delegations.

Mr. McAllister presented a memorial from ship owners and
masters of the port of Baltimore, praying a change in the
pilot laws of this State;

Which was referred to the select committee on Pilots.

Mr. Smith presented a memorial of Messrs. Shaffer and
Loney and others, in reference to shooting wild fowl;

Referred to the select committee on that subject.
