sions of said bill shall be subject to a fine of fifty dollars for
each and every offence, to be recovered before any justice, of
the peace of the city of Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Morgan,

The rules were suspended to enable him to submit the fol-
lowing:

Whereas, the use of the State wharf, opposite Nos. 1 and
2, has been granted to Mason L. Weems and others, for the
use of steamboats trading on the Patuxent River; and where-
as, Captain Samuel Guy, of the steamer St. Nicholas, has of-
fered to pay to the State of Maryland a just and reasonable
compensation for the use of a portion of the frontage on the
State wharf No. 3, in the city of Baltimore, for the more
convenient delivery of tobacco and other freights, and pas-
sengers carried by him on his said steamer, between the Po-
tomac and its tributaries and the city of Baltimore; there-
fore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the State wharfinger be and he is hereby directed, to allot to
the said Samuel Guy, captain of the steamer St. Nicholas,
seventy feet frontage of the State wharf opposite State To-
bacco Warehouse, No. 3, in the city of Baltimore, commenc-
ing at the upper end of said wharf at Conway street, and ex-
tending the said distance of seventy feet, at and for the year-
ly rent of three hundred dollars, to be paid to the State
wharfinger in semi-annual payments of one hundred and fifty
dollars each, and at that rate for so long a time as he may
continue to use and occupy the same; provided, that the Leg-
islature reserves to itself the right to repeal, alter or modify
the above resolution at pleasure.

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Berry,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Young Men's Northwestern
Christian Association of Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Freaner,

Leave was granted the Washington county delegation to
introduce a bill to amend the ninety-fourth and ninety-fifth
sections of the twenty-first article of the code of public local
laws, relating to fences in Washington county.

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,
Leave was granted the Anne Arundel county delegation
