White, and sundry other citizens of Montgomery county,
for a donation to an academy therein mentioned;

Referred to the committee on Education.                   

Mr. Chaplain presented a petition from Samuel P. Dickin-
son and others, to arm and equip the "Talbot Blues.;"

Referred to the committee on the Militia.

Mr. Dennis, of Worcester, presented a petition on free ne-
gro population;                                                           

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

On motion of Mr. McAllister,

Leave was granted, the committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill to prevent the adulteration of spiritous or
malt liquor, by the use of poisonous substances or drugs of
any kind.

On motion of Mr. Harding,           

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to alter and amend the seventh section of ar-
ticle forty-seven of the code of public general laws.             

On motion of Mr. Harding,                                               

Leave was granted the Montgomery county delegation to
introduce a bill for the relief of William Thompson, of C.,
late collector of taxes, in the first, election district of Mont-
gomery county;           
On motion of Mr. Parran,                                               

Leave was granted the Calvert county delegation to intro-
duce a bill entitled, an act to amend the 10th section of arti-
cle 44 of the code of public general laws, which fixes the pay
for the support of pauper lunatics in the Maryland Hospital,
by reducing the amount to be paid for negro lunatics in said
hospital.                                         

Mr. Jacobs offered the following:

Ordered, That the committee on Colored Population have
leave to sit during the session of this House, and to print the
bills before they report to this House;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Stanford,

Leave was granted Messrs. Stanford, Long, and Denison,
of Baltimore city, to bring in a bill, requiring that all oys-
ters carried to the city of Baltimore, shall be sold by the
solid half-bushel, and measured on board the boat carrying
the same; and that all persons offending against the provi-
