nolle prosequi in the case of the State of Maryland versus Wil-
liam Kernan, indicted at the September Term, 1854, of the Cir-
cuit Court for Carroll county, for the wilful, murder of Aloysius
Leuber.

Which was adopted.                               

On motion of Mr. Brooke,             

Leave was granted to introduce a bill authorising the County
Commissioners of Prince George's county to levy a sum of mon-
ey for the benefit of the Upper Marlborough Academy,

Referred to the Prince George's county delegation.

On motion of Mr. Brooke,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to extend the Charter
of the "Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Company.

Referred to the Committee on Corporations.                     

Mr. Askew presented a petition from William Hillory and oth-
ers, for the removal of the first toll gate on the Washington Turn-
pike, to a proper distance from the city.

Referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

On motion of Mr. Daniel,

On Leave was granted to introduce a bill supplementary to an Act
passed at January Session, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chap-
ter four, entitled "an Act to regulate the catching of oysters in
the waters of Somerset county," and entitled "an Act to fix the
time when the Clerk of said county shall pay over the amount of
moneys received from licenses as provided for in said act, and
under what penalties."

Referred to the Somerset county delegation.               

On motion of Mr. Toadvine,

Ordered, That the Postmaster, Page, Folder and Furnace-
keeper of this House be each allowed lour dollars per day.

Which was determined in the affirmative by yeas and nays as
follows.
