Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Claims.

Mr. Wilson presented a petition of Geo. W. Dowell, asking
the payment of fees due him from the State,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Claims.                     

On motion of Mr. Stone,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to allow Walter Mitchell,
former Clerk of Charles county court, further time to complete
his collections.

Referred to Messrs. Stone, Harris and Brooke.
Mr. Daniel submitted the following order:

Ordered, That all amendments or other alterations to bills and
resolutions, hereafter offered, shall be reduced to writing, and
read by the clerk at least once before action thereon.

Which was adopted.                                                          

On motion of Mr. Hall,

Ordered, That the Committee on the Library be instructed to
examine the State Library, ascertain whether the laws and regu-
lations for the management of the same have been complied with,
and what further, if any, legislation may be necessary, and re-
port the result to this House.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Stubbs,                                     

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to change the name of
a certain village known as "Corner Ketch," to "Nickleville."

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.                       

On motion of Mr. Hall,

Leave was granted to bring in a bill to amend the Charter of
the Maryland Institution for the instruction of the Blind, passed
at January Session, 1853.                                         

Referred to the Committee on State Institutions.
On motion of Mr. Daniel,                                           

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to authorise the devise
of Margaret A. Ward to the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal
churches at Kingston and Marimisco, in Somerset county.

Referred to the Somerset county delegation.
On motion of Mr. Smith, of Carroll,                     

Ordered, That his Excellency the Governor be respectfully
requested to furnish this House with the petitions, recommenda-
tions and reasons which influenced his decision in granting a
