Mr. Kennedy presented a memorial from the President and Direc-
tors of the Union Bank of Maryland,                                               

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-

ciary.                                             

Mr. Kennedy presented a memorial and petition of Wm. F.
Frick, asking compensation for his services under an order of
the House of Delegates, of Feb. 4th, 1854.

Which was read , and referred to the Committee on
Claims                       

Mr. Corby presented a petition from Wm. Freaner and sixteen
others, praying an act requiring all persons on taking an appeal
from the judgment of Justices of the Peace to the Circuit Court
of Washington county, to pay all costs on said judgment before
the said appeal can be taken,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
ciary.                                                                               

Mr. Hall presented a petition of W. H. Stabler and eighty
others, citizens of Montgomery county, asking that a tax may be
imposed upon dogs, for the protection of sheep.

Which was read and referred to the Montgomery county dele-

gation.                                                                                                                   

Mr. Stubbs, presented a petition of sundry citizens of Cecil
county, asking a charter for a railroad from the Pennsylvania and
Maryland line to Port Deposit, on the eastern side of the Sus-
quehanna,

Which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments.                                  

Mr. Kennedy presented a memorial and petition from Wm. F.
Frick, asking compensation for his services in the case of Achison
vs. the Superintendent of the National road, rendered in the Su-
preme Court of the United States,                                               

Which was read and referred to the Committee on

Claims.                                                 

Mr. Dorsey presented a petition of H. H. Lockwood, of Anne
Arundel county, for leave to bring into this State a negro boy
belonging to him,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Colored

Population.                                                                       

Mr. Dowell presented a petition of Nathaniel Duke, clerk of
Circuit Court of Calvert county, asking the payment of fees due
him from the State,
