MONDAY NIGHT, 8 o'clock,
March 10th, 1856.
The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:
Messrs. Travers, Speaker, Plowden, Griffith, Dorsey, Neff,
Waters, Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Chilcoat, Rankin,
Wright, Roberts, Toadvine, Lawson, Wilson of Somerset, Dan-
iel, Dail, Frazier, Stubbs, Bowie, Rolph, Parker, Timmons,
Brengle, Davis, Carper, Grove, Hauver, Wolfe, Duvall, Jarrett,
Silver, Whitby, Stack, Partridge, Smith of Baltimore city, Ab-
bott, Valiant, Hugg, Askew, Reichard, Loughridge, Corby, Hall,
Tower, Wickes, Brown, Smith of Carroll, Buffington, Stewart,
and Rowles.
Mr. Smith, of Carroll, offered the following order:
Ordered, That the Printers to this House print 500 copies of
the index to the Journals and Documents, as prepared under Re-
solution 50, of 1849, and the act of 1854, chapter 146; and that
the same be delivered to the Librarian, to be distributed under
the provisions of the act of 1853, chapter 36, provided the cost
of printing the same shall not exceed the price per page paid for
printing the Journal of this House, at the present session;
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Wright,
The rules were suspended to allow him to offer the following
REPORT
To the House of Delegates,
The Committee to which was referred the petition of sundry
citizens of Baltimore county praying the passage of an act for
the protection of stock along the line of the Philadelphia, Wil-
mington and Baltimore Railroad, have given the subject that con-
sideration which its merits demand; and having been informed
that said Railroad Company has already made arrangements to
carry into effect the prayer of said petitioners, they respectfully
ask to be discharged from the further consideration of the sub-
ject.

A Senate bill entitled, an act to secure the payment of debts
contracted for material furnished or work done in the building,
repairing, or equipping of canal boats or any vessels of any kind
used or intended to be used as carriers of coal, other freight or
