A bill entitled, an act to establish a State Military School;
Was read the second time.                                                 

Mr. Roberts moved to amend by striking out, in the 5th line
of the 1st Section, the words "four thousand," and inserting
"two thousand;"

Also, by inserting in the 2nd line of section 3rd, and after the
word institution, "and shall choose one of their number as Presi-
dent;"

Also, in the 4th line of section 3, by striking out "Adjutant
General," and inserting "President;"

Also, in the 2nd line of the 4th section, by striking put the
words "Adjutant General," and inserting "Board;"

Which said amendments were adopted.                         

Mr. Stone moved to amend by "striking out the fifth sec-
tion;"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Roberts moved to amend by striking out, in the 2nd line
of section 6, the word "fifteen," and inserting "five;"

Also, in the 3rd line of same section, by inserting after the
word "altering," the word "leasing;"

Also, in the 3rd line of section 12, after the word "charter," in-
sert "six;"

Also, in the 4th line of same section, after the word "age," strike
out "four," and insert "two;"

Which were adopted.                                                       

On motion of Mr. Merrick,                                           

The said bill was laid on the table.                                 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Mr. Merrick asked leave to withdraw from the House a bill for
the relief of Arthur Weld;

Which was granted.                                                           

On motion of Mr. Toad vine,                                         

The House took up the bill entitled, an act to repeal the act
of 1824, chapter 119, entitled, an act to regulate the sale of ar-
dent spirits within the village of Salisbury, in Somerset and Wor-
cester counties;                                                                       

Was read the second time; and

Three-fourths of the members concurring, was read, the third
time, and passed by yeas and nays as follows:
