favorably, a Resolution in favor of Thomas Jefferson Godman,
the representative of Samuel Godman, an officer in the Maryland
line during the revolutionary war, authorizing the grant to him of
two hundred acres of vacant land, lying to the westward of Port
Cumberland in Allegany county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Lester, from a Select Committee, reported a bill entitled
an act to incorporate the President and Directors of the Howard
Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Corporation.

Mr. Stone, from a Select Committee, reported a bill entitled an
act to amend an act entitled, an act to amend and modify the
primary school system of Charles county.                   

Which was read the first time.                                 

Mr. Abbott of the Committee composed of the Baltimore city:
delegation, reported a bill entitled an act to prevent obstructions
in Union Dock, in the City of Baltimore.

Which was read the first time.
Mr. Kildow presented the following bill:

An act to make valid a deed from the Llangollen Mining Com-
pany to John Crawford ;

Also an act to make valid a deed from the Llangollen Mining
Company to Henry H. Kight;

Which bills were read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Heath of the Committee on Pensions, presented a bill en-
titled an act to allow a pension to Joseph Benson, a private in
the war of the Revolution, and appropriating a sum of money for
the payment thereof.           

Which was read the first time.                       

Mr. Parker presented the following bill:                 

An act to permit persons to whom free negroes or mulattoes
are bound in Worcester county, to hire them out.

Read the first time, and referred to the Committee on Colored

Population.

The bill entitled an act to enforce the payment of rent in the
City of Baltimore.                                                                 

Was read the second time.
