Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Cecil county, passed January
13th, 1846;

Referred to the Committee on Corporations.

An act entitled, an act to pay Mountjoy B. Luckett for services
rendered the State, in the case of the State against Basil Eves,
of Frederick county, indicted for murder;

A bill entitled, an act for the increase of the capital stock of
the Baltimore Copper Smelting Company;

All of which were read the first time, and referred to Special
Committees.

The Secretary of the Senate also returned the following bill:
An act to lay out and establish a new election district in Somer-
set county, to be called election district No. 14, or Lawson's dis-
trict.

Mr. Tower from the Select Committee reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from Benjamin Fitzhugh
and others, to the Mineral Bank of Maryland and Norman Bruce;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Partridge, Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an act supplemental to an act
passed at January Session, 1854, entitled, on act to provide tor
the opening of a Docket by the Registers of Wills of this State,
for the entry of claims passed by the Register and Orphans Court,
against deceased persons;

Which was read the first time.

Also a bill entitled, an act to authorize Judges of Courts having
criminal jurisdiction to provide more effectually for the service of
the process of their respective courts;

Which was read the first time.                         

Mr. Partridge offered the following resolution:               

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Li-
brarian of the State be and he is hereby authorized to subscribe
in the name of the State of Maryland for                           copies

of Stockett, Merrick and Miller's Digests of the Decisions of the
Court of Appeals and Court of Chancery of this State; Provided,
any three Judges of the Court of Appeals shall certify under their
hands and seals on or before the           day of              next, that

in their opinion the said Digest is a faithful Digest of said decis-
ions, and deserves the patronage of the State.

Mr. Rankin, Chairman of the Committee on Pensions, reported
