730           JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 6,

A bill entitled, an act relating to free negroes and slaves in Kent
county,                                                       

Was read the second time;

Mr. Dorsey offered the following amendment:

"Section 4th. And be it enacted, That the provisions of this
act shall only apply to Kent, Anne Arundel and Howard coun-
ties."                                         

Amendment assented to.
The said bill was then read the third time and passed by yeas
and nays us follows:

A bill entitled, an act to prevent the taking, killing, and sale
of Partridges or Quails, Woodcock and Pheasants, out of sea-
son;                                                                                 

Mr. Davis offered the following amendment:

                           

Add to the title "Wild Turkeys and Squirrels;"

Sec. 4th, end of 6th line, add "and Wild Turkeys from 1st
day of March to 1st day of November; and Squirrels from the
1st day of December to 1st day of June in each year, in Freder-
ick county;"                                                 

"Sec. 5. Be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall be so
construed as to prevent persons owning or renting real estate
from taking for their own use, or for preservation, any of the
birds or quadrupeds above mentioned,, at any time, when found
on their own premises, in Frederick county,
