Mr. Daniel called for the previous question.

                                                    

The question being upon the substitute,

Was adopted.                                                 

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled, an act to require the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Frederick county to make and preface a general index to the
land records of Frederick county, and to transcribe two of the
equity dockets of said county;

Was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Carper, Bren-
gle and Grove.                                   

A bill entitled, an act to extend the time which Thomas M. D.
Baden, keeper of the standard of weights and measures for
Prince George's county, may make his return to the commission-
ers court for said county;

Which was read the first time and referred to Messrs. Brooke,
Bowie and Bowling.

And a bill entiled, an act to refund to Francis J. Henry, Thom-
as H. Hicks, Edward D. Martin, Gordon H. K. Mitchell, James
H. Jamar, Timothy A. Smith, John Palmer, Joseph Stuart, C.
W. Billingslea, A. Lingan Jarrett, James Wason, Isaac Nesbit
and Benjamin E. Gantt, the several sums of money erroneously
paid into the Treasury by the said parties in the year 1852, and
part of 1853;

Which was read the first time and referred to the committee on

claims.                                       

Returned the following bills:

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from Nathan P.
Cooksey and Martha Cooksey to Susanna H. Downing.

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the board of visitors of
the Mount Washington Female College near Baltimore:

A bill entitled, an act supplementary to the act to incorporate the
South Baltimore Company, passed at December session 1832,
chapter 96, and the act amendatory of the act to incorporate the
South Baltimore Company, passed January session 1854, chap-
ter 122;                                                                             

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from the Llangollen
Mining Company, to Isaac Kalbaugh;                                       

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from the Llangollon
Mining Company to John M. Kight;

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from the Llangollen
Mining Company to Wm. M. Owens;
