Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Travers,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill entitled, an act to amend
an act entitled, an act to incorporate the Presbyterian church in
the city of Baltimore;                                                     

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

                                             

On motion of Mr. Waters,

The rules were suspended to take up a bill entitled, an act for
the benefit of the academies and schools of Anne Arundel coun-

ty;

                                                           

Which was read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Dorsey,

                                                                           

The said bill was referred to the committee on education, and
made the order of the day for Friday, the 7th instant, at one
o'clock.

The following petitions were presented:

By Mr. Roberts, of sundry citizens of election district No. 2,
in Talbot county, praying for an additional magistrate in said dis-
trict;

Which was referred to the Talbot county delegation.

By Mr. Frazier, of one hundred and thirty-four citizens of
Talbot county, praying the Legislature of Maryland to pass seme
law to protect young ladies in the nunneries or private prisons;

Which was referred to the committee on that subject.

By Mr. Clark, from John Clark and three other citizens of the
town of Trappe, in Talbot county, stating their opposition to an
act of incorporation as prayed for in a petition lately present-
ed;

Which was referred to the committee on corporations.
Also, for the relief of Joseph Bunton, free negro, signed by R.
C. Hollyday, Esq., and sundry other citizens of Talbot coun-

ty;

Which was referred to the committee on corporations.

Also, from sundry citizens of Talbot county, praying the pas-
sage of an act to authorize the County Commissioners to grant an
increase of compensation to the Crier of the circuit court for said

county.                                                                                       

Which was referred to the committee on corporations.
