Roberts, Toadvine, Thomas, Stubbs, Miller, Bowie, Goldsbo-
rough, Parker, Timmons, Smith, of Worcester, Brengle, Davis,
Carper, Grove, Hauver, Wolfe, Jarrett, Silver, Whitby, Stack,
Partridge, Abbott, Valiant, Hugg, Askew, Harrington, Fiery,
Witmer, Reichard, Corby, Harding, Tower, Kildow, Smith, of
Carroll, Buffington, Stewart.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Abbott presented a petition from Robinson Wentz and

others, for the passage of an act entitled an act to prevent ob-
struction in Union Dock, in the city of Baltimore.

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore City Delega-
tion.

Mr. Kennedy presented a memorial from the Patuxent Com-
pany and Laurel Machine Company for repayment of taxes over-

Paid.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways and
Means.

Mr. Harrington presented a memorial from Mc Dowell &. Gable, in
reference to their claim before the Legislature;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Partridge presented a petition from Messrs. Stockett, Mer-
rick & Miller, asking for subscription by the State to a digest of
the decisions of the Court of Appeals and the Court of Chancery.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communica-
tion, which was read and referred to a Special Committee of five

To the Honorable the General Assembly of Maryland:

The Commissioners appointed by your honorable body, under
an act, No. 302, passed in 1852, to erect a Hospital for the Insane,
beg leave to report that they have not made any progress in the
work, since their last report, in 1853, owing to the want of means;
they are, however, more deeply impressed than ever, with the
belief, that an Institution of this character is greatly needed, and
they are therefore, ready, and willing, to fulfill the original design
of jour honorable body, whenever means are provided for its ex-
ecution.
