The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Heath called for the following resolution offered by him
on the 11th inst.

Resolved, By the General Assembly of Maryland, that the
Governor be requested to authorize the Adjutant General to grant
the use of fifty muskets and two field pieces, to the students of
St. Timothy's Hall, Catonsville, Maryland, for instruction in the
military drill.                                      

Which was read.                                                         

Mr. Silver offered the following amendment, which was read,
and adopted.

Provided, a sufficient bond be given for the safe-keeping and
return of the same as the Adjutant General may require.

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough, asked the rules to be sus-
pended to offer the following order.

Ordered, That the memorial of William J. Emory with the ac-
companying papers presented at the last session of the Legis-
lature be withdrawn from the files of the House, and referred to
the committee on Pensions—adopted.

On motion of Mr. Roberts, asked rules to be suspended to have.
Bill No. 18 read the third time. Lost for want of constitu-
tional majority.                                                 

Mr. Silver moved that the House now adjourn.

THURSDAY, January 17, 1856.

House met pursuant to adjournment. Present at the call of the
roll the following members :
