Which was adopted.


On motion of Mr. Rowles,

Leave was granted the Howard county delegation to introduce
a bill to authorize the Orphans' Court of Howard county to ap-
point commissioners to lay off a new school district in said coun-

ty.

Mr. Harris submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Reading Clerk arrange the bills appropria-
ting money and reported by the committee on claims, and that
said bills be taken up on Wednesday night at eight o'clock to
the exclusion of other business.

Which was adopted.              

Mr. Toadvine presented a petition of John W. Taylor and
forty-three other citizens of Somerset county, praying the Legis-
lature to appropriate to the Eastern Shore the unexpended balance
of the one million of dollars, which was appropriated to the
Eastern Shore by the act of 1835;

Which was referred to the committee on ways and means.
                     

Mr. Smith, of Carroll, submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that if Mr. Wil-
liam N. Wolfe had been in his seat when the vote was taken on
the bill restricting licenses, he would have voted in the nega-

tive.

Which was adopted.


Mr. Partridge, from the committee on judiciary,

Reported favorably, on a bill entitled, an act to amend an act
entitled, an act to authorise the appointment of commissioners to
take acknowledgement of deeds and instruments of writing, un-
der seal out of the State of Maryland, passed at December session
1837, chap. 97.                         

Also, reported a bill entitled, an act to authorise and empower
the vestry and officers of the Lutheran congregation of Hughes'
church in Frederick county, to convey all their right, title, and in-
terest in and to the said church, reserving, however, their interest
in the lot of ground and grave-yard on which the said church is
erected, to the vestry and offices of the German Reformed Con-

gregation of said church.

And a bill entitled, an act for the relief of John S. Gittings,
administrator of Alexander de la Tullay, deceased, by authorising

the issue of a duplicate of a certificate of State loan, the original

whereof is lost or destroyed;
