Also a petition of John H. T. Jerome and others, for a law to
regulate the sale of certain kinds of fresh provisions in the city
of Baltimore;                                                             

Which was referred to Messrs. Dorsey, Heath and Abbott.

Mr. Fiery presented a petition of sundry citizens of Washing-
ton county, asking the passage of a law for the suppression of
convents and nunneries:

Which was referred to the committee on that subject.

Mr. Heath presented a petition of sundry citizens of Maryland,
for the suppression of nunneries;                                   

Which was referred to the committee on that subject.

Mr. Wolfe presented a petition of sundry citizens of Freder-
ick county, for the relief of young ladies in convents and nunne-
ries;                                                 

Which was referred to the committee on that subject.

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Frederick county,
praying for a law to equalize taxation in this State;

Which was referred to the committee on education.

Mr. Jarrett presented a petition from Thomas Riley and twen-
ty-three others of Harford county, for an act to incorporate Mar-
shall District Library;

Which was referred to the committee on corporations.

Mr. Roberts presented a petition of John W. Kemp and others
of Talbot county, praying an act to incorporate and endow the
Military Academy at Oxford, in said county;               

Which was referred to the committee on military.
On motion of Mr. Partridge,                                 

Leave was granted the Committee on Judiciary to introduce
a bill to carry into effect the provisions of the 49th section of the
3d article of the Constitution of this State.


Mr. Stack submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that if J. R.
Stack, of Caroline county, had been present when the vote was
taken upon the passage of the bill to establish a uniform system
of education throughout the State, he would have voted in the

affirmative.
