On motion of Mr. Bowie,

Leave to introduce a bill for the repair of the public roads in
Prince George's county;

Which was referred to the Prince George's county delegation.
Mr. Griffith offered the following report:

                             Millington, February 27th, 1856.

To the Honorable, the Legislature of Maryland.                       

Gentlemen :—In compliance with an act of a former Legisla-
ture we, the trustees of the Millington Academy, report to your
Honorable Body, that our Institution is in successful operation
under the care and management of John V. Crosby. Esq.. (a
classical scholar.)

The average number of pupils is about forty.                         

They are engaged in all the various studies common to a school
of the kind, from the A. B. C. scholar to the higher branches of
Mathematics, and the Latin and Greek languages.

We also have instructed the requisite number of poor children
as required by law.                                                                    

All of which is respectfully reported.                    

By order of the Board,           

                                       Wm. Frisby Smythe, Sec'y.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.

On motion of Mr. Plowden,

Leave was granted to the St. Mary's county delegation to intro-
duce a bill providing for an additional district in St. Marys county.

Mr. Loughridge, from the select committee reported a bill en-
titled, an act to authorize the Administrator of Thomas H. Dough-
erty, deceased, to pay over to the widow of said deceased the
assets remaining in his hands;                                   

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Wright from the select committee reported a bill entitled,
an act to authorize the commissioners of Baltimore county to
levy a sum of money herein named;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Askew,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill entitled, an act to license wood hucksters in the
city of Baltimore.

Mr. Bowie from the select committee reported favorably on a
Senate bill entitled, an act to appropriate a sum of money to pay
