Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Rankin presented a petition from Thomas Jefferson God-
man, asking a certificate for Bounty Land.             

Which was referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Dorsey presented a petition of sundry citizens of Anne
Arundel county, asking that increased compensation be allowed
to the jailor of said county, for the subsistence of State prisoners.

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county Delegation.
The Speaker laid before the House the following communica-
tion :

State Tobacco Warehouse, No. 3,
January 12th, 1856.

To the Honorable Speaker of the House of Delegates.

I herewith send you a statement of the inspections and ship-
ments of this Warehouse for the year 1856.

Mr. Heath presented a petition from Joseph Benson, of
Baltimore City, a revolutionary soldier, praying lor a pension.

Which was referred to the Committee on Pensions.
On motion of Mr. Brengle,                          

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a Bill entitled an act to amend an act, entitled "an act
to incorporate the Mutual Insurance Company of Frederick
County," passed at December session, 1843, chapter 199.
On motion of Mr. Harrington,
It was ordered, that leave be granted to withdraw from the
files of the House the memorial and accompanying papers filed
in the case of Mrs. McDowell and Gable, at the last session of
the Legislature, and that the same be referred to the Committee
on Claims.

On motion of Mr. Smith, of Baltimore City,

Ordered, That the Treasurer report to this House forthwith,
