The Preamble and Resolutions were then read the second
time, and adopted.           

The Speaker announced the following committee in pursuance
of the order offered to-day by Mr. Davis, in reference to the ex-
expediency of a Prohibitory Law, viz :

Messrs. Davis, Stone, Plowden, Griffith, Dorsey, Wilson, of Cal-
vert, Chilcoat, Roberts, Toadvine, Dail, Stubbs, Bowie, Rolph,

On motion of Mr. Rankin, the House adjourned.

The House met pursuant to adjournment. Present at the call
of the roll the following members:

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Fiery presented the petition of Jervis Spencer to be com-
pensated for legal service rendered the State.

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Dorsey presented the petition of Henry Moore, adminis-
trator of George Moore, deceased, asking payment of certain
special drafts of the State of Maryland, held by him as adminis-
trator of his father; said drafts bearing date 1774 and 1775, and
amounting to one thousand dollars,                            

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

The Speaker presented the petition of the Board of Trade of
the City of Baltimore, asking a repeal of the Stamp Act.
