The rules were suspended to take up

A bill entitled an act to authorise the building of a bridge over
the Patapsco river at Ferry Bar;                           

Mr. Partridge moved to strike out the enacting clause;           

Which was determined in the negative.
The question being on the amendment offered by Mr. Lester;
It was determined in the negative.
Mr. Frazier offered the following amendment:

In the 3rd line of section 2nd, after the word "river insert "of
not less than forty feet in width with flams of fifty feet in length
on each side;"                 

Amendment assented to.                                   

Mr. Askew offered the following amendment:

At the end of Section 8, add, "and no railroad or railing track
shall ever be built upon said bridge;"

Amendment assented to.                                                         

The said bill was then read the second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.
