On motion of Mr. Hall,                                                     

The order was amended, by striking out "ten" and inserting
"eleven."                   

The order as amended was then adopted.

Mr. Rowles offered the following order:

Ordered, That Thomas J. Wilson, be Printer to the House of
Delegates; and that the Committee on Printing, hereafter to be
appointed, contract with him for the execution of the same.

Which was read.
Mr. Askew moved that the order be laid on the table.
Determined in the negative.                                             

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough,
The House adjourned until to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock.

FRIDAY, January 4th, 1856.


The House met pursuant to adjournment.               

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Travers, Speaker; Plowden, Griffith, Sudler, Dor-
sey, Neff, Waters, Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Chilcoat,
Rankin, Wright, Cullings, Heath, Clark, Roberts, Toadvine, Law-
son, Wilson, of Somerset, Daniel, Dail, Thomas, Scott, Stubbs,
Miller, Brooke, Bowie, Bowling, Goldsborough, Rolph, Parker,
Timmons, Smith, of Worcester, Brengle, Davis, Carper, Silver,
Duvall, Jarret, Whitby, Stack, Kennedy, Partridge, Smith, of
Baltimore City, Abbott, Valiant, Lester, Hugg, Askew, Har-
rington, Fiery, Witmer, Reichard, Loughridge, Corby, Harding,;
Hall, Tower, Wickes, Kildow, Brown, Smith, of Carroll, Buffing-
ton, Stewart, Rowles.

The Speaker laid before the House the annual report of the
Comptroller; the report of the Commissioners for disbursements
in deepening Patapsco river; and certain papers relating to the
claim of Barings, Bro. & Co., for interest overpaid;

Which were severally read, and referred to the Committee on
Ways and Means hereafter to be appointed.

Wm. D. Merrick, Esquire, member elect from Charles county,
appeared, qualified, and took his seat.
