496              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS. [ Feb. 28,

Which was read the first time and made the special order of the
day for Tuesday next.

Mr. Rankin from a select committee reported favorably on the
Senate bill entitled, an act to make valid the devises in the last
will and testament of John K. Rowe, to the Baptist church in
the village of Hereford;

Also, reported a bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from
Mary Fitzhugh to David Longecker;
Which was read the first time.

Mr. Kildow, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
Senate bill entitled, an act amendatory of the act entitled, an act
to incorporate the Lonaconing Ocean Coal and Mining Trans-
portation Company, passed January session 1853, chapter 192.

Mr. Brown, from a select committee reported a bill entitled, an
act for the relief of David Marsh, of Carroll county;

Which was read the first time.                                               

Mr. Stewart, from a select committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to allow Charles G. Haslup, late Sheriff of Howard
county, further time to complete his collections;

Which was read the first time.                                                 

Mr. Stone, from a select committee, reported a bill entitled, an
act for the relief of William Nevitt, former collector of Charles
county;

Which was read the first time.

Also, a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Mutual Fire In-
surance company of Charles county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Brooke, from a select committee, reported favorably on,
the Senate bill entitled, an act to change the name of Samuel
Hamilton Wright of Prince George's county, to Samuel Hamil-
ton.                 

Also, favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act to increase
the allowance to the Sheriff of Prince George's county, for keep-
ing and supporting persons committed to the jail of said county,
for breaches of the peace or for criminal offences.

Mr. Daniel, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
Senate bill entitled, an act to change the time of holding the
Circuit Courts in the 8th Judicial circuit.

Mr. Stubbs, from a select committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to authorise the sale of a certain piece of land in Cecil
county;

Which was read the first time.
