Leave was granted the Baltimore county delegation to intro-
duce a bill to make valid a deed from Mary Fitzhugh to David .
Longnecker.                                                         

On motion of Mr. Rowles,             

Leave was granted the Howard delegation to introduce a bill to
allow Charles G. Haslup, late sheriff of Howard county further time
to complete his collections.

On motion of Mr. Smith of Carroll,           

Leave was granted the Carroll delegation to introduce a bill
compelling actions to be tried before some Justice of the Peace
of the election district, in Carroll county, in which the defendants
to said action reside.                           

On motion of Mr. Rankin, it was

Ordered, That the Committee to whom were referred memo-
rials relating to nunneries and convents be required to report to
this House on or before Tuesday next.

On motion of Mr. Silver,                                               

Leave was granted the Harford delegation to introduce a bill

to amend an act granting the county commissioners of this State
the power to open, alter and close roads in their respective coun-
ties, passed January session 1853, chapter 220...                 

On motion of Mr. Stubbs,              

Leave was granted the Cecil delegation to introduce a bill to
authorise the sale of a certain lot of ground in Cecil county.

On motion of Mr. Lawson,                                                   

Leave was granted the Somerset delegation to introduce a bill
authorising a single Justice of the Peace to bind out apprentices
in Somerset county.

Mr. Silver presented a petition of sundry citizens of Harford
county praying the repeal of the 13th section of the act of 1853,
chapter 220;

Which was referred to the Harford delegation.                         

Mr. Lester from the Committee on Inspections, reported favor-
ably on a bill to regulate the inspection of Lumber in Baltimore
city;                                                           

Which was read the first time.

Also favorably on the bill entitled, an act to provide for the ap-
pointment of a chief Tobacco inspector, and to prescribe his du-
ties and powers, and for the better regulation of the several To-
bacco Warehouses in the city of Baltimore;
