Mr. Frazier, from the committee on claims, reported a bill to
refund to Thomas J. Brice and John Brice, of Anne Arundel
county, a sum of money therein named;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Brengle,

The rules were suspended to enable him to present a petition
from Wm Yeakle, of Frederick county, praying the Legislature
to pass a law authorising and directing the trustees in a certain
case in equity, in the Circuit Court of said county to pay to said
petitioner a distributive share in said case:

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

On motion of Mr. Daniel,                      

The rules were suspended, and                                          

Leave was granted Messrs. Daniel, Partridge and Merrick to in-
troduce a bill to authorise the purchase of "Dunlop's Digest of
the General Laws of the United States," published in the year
1856, for the use of the State Library and of the several courts
of the State.                                             

Mr. Merrick, from the committee on Federal Relations, report-
ed a bill making an appropriation to defray the expenses of the
surreys necessary under the acts passed January session, 1852,
chapters 60 and 275, authorising the running and making of the
State boundary lines therein mentioned;

Which was read the first time and made the order of the day
for Saturday, the first of March.                                         

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills:
The bill entitled, an act to simplify conveyancing;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays, with the proposed amend-
ments."                                                                                     

Amendments Proposed.
Add to section 85, page 20 of printed bill, the following:

"IV. A commissioner of deeds appointed by the Governor of
this State."

Strike out section 128, page 33 of printed bill, and insert in
lieu thereof the following as section 128:               

"No bill of sale shall be valid except as between the parties
thereto, unless there be endorsed thereon an oath or affirmation
of the donee or purchaser, that the consideration in said bill of
sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. This affidavit may
be made at any time before the bill of sale is recorded, before any
