The reading of yesterday's Journal was dispensed with.
On motion of Mr. Wickes,

The resolutions offered by him on the 14th instant, were made
the order of the day for to-morrow.

Mr. Brengle presented a petition from L. G. Kemp and 49
others of Frederick county praying the passage of a law to pre-
vent free negroes and slaves from holding bush meetings; and
also to prevent free negroes from allowing slaves to remain in
their houses after 10 o'clock at night;

Which was referred to the committee on colored population.

Mr. Rowles presented a petition of 18 citizens of Howard

county in favor of continuing the State Chemist;

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Rowles presented a petition from 33 citizens of Howard
and Carroll counties, in favor of building a bridge across the wes-
tern fork of the Patapsco, at Marriottsville;

Which was referred to the Howard and Carroll delegations.

Also, presented a similar petition from 26 citizens of Howard
county;

Which was referred to the Howard and Carroll delegations.

Also, presented a petition from 34 citizens of Howard county
in favor of a new school district in the 2nd election of Howard
county;                                                         

Which was referred to the Howard delegation.

Mr. Duvall presented a petition of H. Cole and 17 other citi-
zens of Harford county, asking a change in the license laws so
far as relates to the sale of liquor;                           

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Smith, of Carroll, presented a petition of 86 citizens of
Carroll county, praying the passage of a law for the protection of
game;

Which was referred to the Carroll delegation.

Mr. Davis presented a petition of E. L. Delashmutt and nu-
merous other citizens of Frederick city, praying a repeal of the
Stamp Tax;                   

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Silver presented a petition of William Murphy, R. L.
Morgan and Cyrus Osborn in favor of a license law;
