Mr. Bowie offered the following message.         

By the House of Delegates,

February 26th, 1856.

Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message asking the return of the bill

 entitled, an act to compensate James S. Franklin for the trial of

 certain cases in in the court of appeals by the appointment of
the Governor, and herewith return the same.

Which was assented to and sent to the Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered engrossed bills from
No. 23 to No. 44, inclusive, endorsed "read and assented to;"

Also, the bill entitled, an act authorising the payment to
George W. Nutwell a certain sum of money; endorsed "passed
by yeas and nays."
