A bill entitled, an act authorising the county commissioners of
Cecil county, in their discretion to levy a sum of money for the
construction of a new bridge over Back creek in said county;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the county commissioners
for Dorchester county to levy a sum of money to pay for the build-
ing of a bridge across Slaughter creek from the main land to
Taylor's Island;

Was read the second time.                             

A bill entitled, an act to provide for the purchase of a suitable
Library for the Maryland Penitentiary;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to prevent swine from going at large in
the village of the Head of Sassafras and its vicinity in Kent
county;

Was read the second time.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

A bill entitled, an act to regulate the sale of goods, wares and

merchandise and other property in the city of Baltimore;
Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to provide for the better regulation and
conduct of the business of the Land Office;                             

Was read the second time.                               

A bill entitled, an act to provide for filing, transcribing, and

preserving the public records now in the State House at Annapo-

lis;

Mr. Fiery offered the following amendment:

In the 2nd line, 1st section strike out the word "Governor"
and insert "President of the Senate."

In the 8th line, 1st section strike out the word "Governor"
and insert the words "President of the Senate."

Mr. Roberts called for the yeas and nays, and the amendment
was rejected as follows:
