398 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 21,

Mr. Smith of Worcester presented a petition of 24 citizens of

Worcester county, in reference to the balance due the Eastern

Shore on account of Internal Improvements;

Which was referred to the Committee on ways and Means.

Mr. Davis presented a petition of Luke T. B. McHenry, and
sundry other citizens of Frederick county praying a supplement
to an act for the destruction of foxes, and offering an additional,
reward;                                                                                     

Which was referred to the Committee on ways and means.

Also a petition of A. M. Scott and numerous other citizens of
Frederick county praying the passage of a law for the protection
of game;

Which was referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Fiery presented a petition from sundry citizens of Wash-
ington county remonstrating against the law exempting the Ma-
ryland and Virginia Bridge in said county;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Askew presented a petition of W. G. Hamill, clerk of the
Court of Common Pleas, of Baltimore city, asking for the pay-
ment of fees due said office from the State of Maryland;

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Fiery presented a petition for the relief of Malinda Morris
of Washington county;                                                             

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Scott presented a petition of sundry citizens of Cecil
county, praying increased compensation to the Sheriff of said
county for keeping prisoners in the county jail;                         

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Smith, of Carroll, presented a petition of 146 citizens of
Carroll county, praying the passage of a law requiring all suits
hereafter instituted before justices of the peace to be tried and de-
termined before some justice of the election district in which the
defendants reside.                                                         

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Carroll county praying
the passage of a law regulating the height and character of fen-
ces in said county;

Which was referred to the Carroll county delegation.
