Amendment assented to.

On motion of Mr. Reichard,                         

The House adjourned till to-morrow morning, at 11 o'clock.

                             THURSDAY, February 21st, 1856,

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following,
members:                          

                   

Messrs. Speaker, Harris, Sudler, Dorsey, Neff, Waters, Dow-
ell, Stone, Rankin, Wright, Cullings, Heath, Roberts, Toadvine,
Wilson, of Somerset, Daniel, Dail, Scott, Stubbs, Bowie, Golds-
borough, Parker, Timmons, Smith of Worcester, Brengle, Davis,
Carper, Grove, Wolfe, Duvall, Jarrett, Silver, Slack, Partridge,
Smith of Baltimore city, Abbott, Askew, Harrington, Fiery,
Loughridge, Corby, Harding, Hall, Tower, Wickes, Kildow,
Frey, Brown, Smith of Carroll, Burlington, Stewart, Rowles.

On motion of Mr. Kildow,                             

The reading of the Journal was dispensed with.

Mr. Stone presented a petition of sundry citizens of Charles
county relative to boats on the Potomac river;

Which was referred to the Charles and Prince George's county
delegations.

Also a petition of sundry citizens of Charles county, to alter

the lines of election districts third and fourth;           

Which was referred to the Charles and St. Mary's county del-
egations.

Mr. Bowie presented a memorial of M. N. Falls, President of
the Baltimore Steam Packet Company;

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Hall presented a petition of Thomas Fawcett and 62 other
citizens of Montgomery county, praying a uniform and improved
system of Education;
