Levin Wheatley and Edwin J. Wheatley, free negroes of the
city of Baltimore.

Mr. Daniel, from a select committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to amend the act entitled, an act to establish a House of
Refuge for juvenile delinquents and the supplements thereto, and
to authorise the appointment of managers on the part of the
State in said House, and to give to the Judges of the Circuit
Courts for the several counties of this State the power to order
minors to be removed to, and confined in the House of Refuge;
and to appropriate for the aid and benefit and support of the
House of Refuge, the annual sum of ten thousand dollars for five
successive years: .

Also, a bill entitled, an act for the releasing of arrearages on
account of former loans to the Maryland Penitentiary;

Mr. Rowles from a Select Committee reported a bill entitled,
an act to allow E. A. Talbott, late sheriff of Howard county,
further time to complete his collections;

Mr. Toadvine from a Select Committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act granting the leave of the Legislature to a devise in the
will of William H. Dulaney, late of Somerset county, deceased,
of a house and lot in the town of Salisbury, to the Trustees of
the Protestant Episcopal Church of said town;

Also, a bill entitled, an act making valid a deed of manumis-
sion from a certain Harry Johnson, late of Somerset county, de-
ceased, to his slaves Dennis, Jane, and Charlotte;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Brengle, reported a bill entitled, aft act to .authorise Arthur
Thomas Weld, of Allegany county, to take, hold and dispose of
real estate for his own use in the State of Maryland;
Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Judiciary.
