On motion of Mr. Reichard,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to bring
in a bill to abolish the office of State Agricultural Chemist.

On motion of Mr. Stack,

Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be authorised
and directed to introduce a bill requiring the State's Attorneys of
•the several counties in this State, and the city of Baltimore, to
bond to the State of Maryland for the better security of the
State's funds, and that every payment made to any of the said
attorneys be a valid payment in any suit at law or equity, when-
ever the person or persons having made such payment shall pro-
duce the receipt of said attorney for the same.

Mr. Daniel offered the following order,

Ordered, That the Committee on printing, be requested to
have the three thousand copies of the Comptroller's report ordered
for the use of the members of the House, bound up in manner
similar to that of those furnished said members by the Comp-
troller.                                                                       

Mr. Harding proposed the following amendment,
" Provided that the additional expense shall not exceed two
cents for each copy;"

Which was accepted :

The question recurring on the adoption of the order,
It was determined in the negative.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following message,

By the Senate,

January 9, 1856.

To the Honorable the House of Delegates.

Gentlemen,                   

The Senate respectfully ask the return of the Message concur-
ring in the appointment of a joint Committee to take into consi-
deration the report of the Commissioners appointed under article
3rd Sec. 17 of the Constitution to revise simplify and abridge the
rules of Practice, Pleadings, Forms of conveyances and proceed-
ings of the Courts of Record in this State,

By Order,                     

C. Harwood,

                                      Secretary.

Also, the report of P. G. Etchison, Inspector of Tobacco at

Warehouse No. 4,

And, the report of the President of the Frederick College, in,
pursuance of the act of 1798, chapter 107

Severally endorsed "read and referred to the House of Dele-
gates."
