Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, presented the petition of forty-one
citizens of Worcester county, praying the Legislature to appro-
priate $847,235.86, it being the balance, due the Eastern Shore,
of $1,000,000 appropriated by the act of 1839, chapter 323;

Which, was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Dail presented a memorial of Grace Benley, widow of
George Benley, a revolutionary soldier, for relief therein men-
tioned;

               

Which was referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Carper presented a petition from 41 citizens of Frederick
county, asking for an appropriation to aid in the ejection of an
Academy building in the village of Jefferson;

Which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Harrington presented a memorial of Henry K. Myers, John
Fetting and Sophia D. Fetting, to make valid a certain deed
therein mentioned;

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Stubbs presented a petition of J. W. Abrams and 126 citi-
zens of Cecil county, in favor of enacting a stringent license
law;

Which was laid on the table, to be taken up with the bill on
that subject.                                           

Mr. Duvall presented a petition of Amps Osborn, late collector
of Harford county, asking to have certain moneys returned, which
he has overpaid into the Treasury;                                 

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Jarrett presented a petition of John Tredway, asking the
passage of a law empowering him to make a title to a certain
parcel of land therein named;

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Smith, of Carroll, presented a petition of 213 citizens of
Carroll county, praying the modification of the law of 1840,
chapter 154, entitled, an act regulating the licenses of hawkers
and pedlars, and for other purposes;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Wickes presented a petition of Henry Hagan, of Cumber-
