366 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 19,

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the day,

On motion of Mr. Frazier,
The consideration thereof was indefinitely postponed.

Mr. Davis, from a select committee, reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act to authorise the County Commissioners of
Frederick county to change the public road leading from Urbana
to Frederick, from a point about one mile west of Urbana, in said
county, to a point on said road near Wm. Tasker's house; and to
appropriate the sum of two thousand dollars for making said
change;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Davis, from a select committee, reported a bill entitled, an

act to authorise the County Commissioners of Frederick county
to levy a sum of money to erect a bridge over Bennett's creek, in
said county;

Which was read the first time.
Mr. Frazier, from the Committee on Claims, reported unfavo-
rably on the petition of J. H. Tarr and 50 other citizens of Caro-
line county, asking compensation to the widow of William A.
Breeding deceased, for the arrest of David Thomas, free negro,
for the murder of William Butler, of Caroline county;

Which was adopted.
Mr. Frazier, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
Senate bill entitled, an act for the relief of Samuel Harrington,
of Dorchester county,

Which was read the first time.

Mr, Dail reported a bill entitled, an act to regulate the com-

pensation of the State's Attorney for Dorchester county;

Which was read the first time.                                    

Mr. Jarrett, from a select committee, reported favorably on the
Senate bill entitled, an act to authorise and empower William

Washington Carlile and Gustavus Carlile, free negroes residing
in Harford county, to navigate their vessel or vessels as masters
thereof, to and from the city of Baltimore, and the head waters
of the Bush and Gunpowder rivers;           

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Brengle, from the committee on currency, reported unfa-
vorably on the petition of Patrick Kennedy, praying the passage
of a law to prohibit the circulation of foreign bank notes of a
less denomination than twenty dollars;
