Which was referred to the special committee on that subject.

Mr. Plowden presented a petition from citizens of St. Mary's
county, praying the repeal of the act of 1854, chapter 194 enti-
tled, an act for the better protection of shareholders in this State;

Also, presented a petition from citizens of St. Mary's county,
praying the repeal of the act of 1854, chapter 194 entitled, an
act for the better protection of slaveholders in this State;

Which were referred to the Committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Duvall presented the petition of P. B. Reese and 22 other
citizens of Harford county, asking a change in the present license
system;                                                                  

Which was referred to the committee on ways and means.

Also, presented a petition of John C. Underhill, and seventeen
other citizens of Harford county, asking a change in the present
system of repairing Roads;

Which was referred to the Committee on Roads,

Mr. Brengle presented a petition from 90 citizens of Frederick
county, praying the passage of a law to prohibit, the erection of
private prisons, &c;         

Which was referred to the Special Committee on that subject:

Mr. Valiant presented the memorial of 93 citizens of Baltimore
city, relative to nunneries;                                     

Which was referred to the Special Committee on that subject,

Mr. Rankin presented the memorial of sundry citizens of Bal-
timore county relative to nunneries;

Which was referred to the Special Committee on that subject

Mr. Frazier presented the memorial of John E. Applegarth,
late Sheriff of Dorchester county, for relief therein mentioned;

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Also presented the memorial of 48 citizens of Dorchester coun-
ty, praying the passage of a law creating a new school district in
election district, number 7, in said county, to be called Franklin
school district.                                

Which was referred to the Dorchester county delegation.

Mr. Roberts presented the petition of 314 citizens of Talbot
county, in favor of the Eastern Shore Railroad, &c;         

Which was referred to the committee on ways and means.
