On motion of Mr. Sudler,

The vote upon the bill was reconsidered and the bill recom-

mitted.                                                       

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled, an act to repeal an act passed at January ses-
sion, 1854, chapter 194, entitled, an act for the better protection
of Slaveholders in the several counties therein mentioned.


Which was read the first time and referred to the committee on

Colored Population.

Also a bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act entitled, an
act to prevent frauds in mortgages and bills of sale, passed at
December session, 1846, chapter 241.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee on
the Judiciary.

Also a bill entitled, an act to empower William Washington
Carlisle and Gustavus Carlisle, free negroes residing in Harford
county, to navigate their vessel or vessels as masters thereof, to
and from the city of Baltimore and the head waters of the Bush
and Gunpowder rivers.

                       

Which was read the first time and referred to a special Com-
mittee composed of Messrs. Duvall, Jarrett and Silver.

Also a bill entitled, an act for the relief of Samuel Harrington,
of Dorchester county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to a special com-
mittee, composed of Messrs. Frazier, Thomas and Dail.

Also a bill entitled, an act to establish and endow an Agricul-
tural College in the State of Maryland;
