tion of State Treasurer this day forthwith, and we are now ready
to proceed with the election. We have nominated on the part of
the Senate, Dennis Claude for that office and we have appointed
Messrs. McCullough and Schley to act as tellers with the gentle-
men named by you, to count the ballots and report the result.

We also concur with your honorable body in the proposition
to proceed immediately after the election of Treasurer, to the
election of two directors on the part of the State, in the Mechan-
ics Bank of Baltimore. We have nominated on the part of the
Senate, Trueman Belt and J. Bond Chaplain.

We also concur in your proposition to proceed to the erection
of directors on the part of the State, in the Easton Bank of
Maryland; also for two directors in the Hagerstown Bank.

We have nominated on the part of the Senate for directors of
the Easton bank of Maryland, J. B. Thomas, of Queen Anne's
county, and Mr. John H. Harris, of Talbot county.             

We have also nominated on the part of the Senate for the Ha-
gerstown Bank, Mathew S. Barber and Frederick D. Herbert.

And we have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
McCullough and Schley tellers to act with the gentlemen named
by your honorable body, to count the ballots and announce the
results.

Which was read, and

On motion of Mr. Askew,                                    

The House proceeded to the election of a State Treasurer, to
supply the place of Dr. Dennis Claude, the present State Treasu-
rer, when it appeared that forty-five ballots had been cast on the
part of the House of Delegates. The Speaker pro tem, then
sealed the ballot box and delivered the same into the, hands of
Messrs. Bowie and Dorsey, the tellers on the part of the House,
who proceeded to the Senate Chamber to join those who had been
appointed on the part of the Senate, for the purpose of counting
the ballots.

After a brief absence the tellers on the part of the House re-
turned and reported that with the tellers on the part of the Sen-
ate, they had counted the ballots cast for Treasurer, and that Dr.
Dennis Claude had received 48 votes, Dennis A. Claude 2 votes,
Dick Simpson 1 vote, and there were twelve blanks.

Mr. Bowie moved that the House now adjourn;
