The said bill was then sent to the Senate.                       

On motion of Mr. Scott,           

The rules were suspended, to take up for the second reading
a bill entitled, an act to authorise the county commissioners of
the several counties of this State to build bridged in their respec-
tive counties, and to levy for the cost thereof.

On motion of Mr. Merrick,

The said bill was recommitted to the Committee on Roads and
Highways.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:                    

          By the Senate,

February 15th, 1856.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received the message of your honorable body, pro-
posing to go into the election of Treasurer and Bank Directors
this day at 2 o'clock P. M. Also your message asking the re-
turn of the first named message and in compliance with the re-
quest of your honorable body herewith return the first message.

Harwood, Secretary.
On motion of Mr. Heath,

The name of Dr. W. W. Watkins was striken out as a candi-
date for the office of Treasurer,          

                                   

On motion of Mr. Askew,

The message was returned to the Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
