332            JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 15,

Mr. Dorsey presented the petition of the Trustees of the prima-
ry school district No. 38, Annapolis city, praying a change in the
mode of collecting the school tax in said school district;

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county delegation.

Mr. Fiery presented a petition of 175 citizens of Washington
county remonstrating against the removal of the election polls
from Cavetown to Smithsburg, in said county;

Which was referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Carper presented the petition of 46 citizens of Frederick
county calling the attention of the Legislature to the necessity of
legislation in reference to the unequal taxation;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Sudler presented a memorial of 47 citizens of Kent coun-
ty to have a weigher of wheat in the city of Baltimore;

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Hugg submitted the following order:                     

Ordered, That the Clerk of the Criminal Court of Baltimore
shall report to this House on, or before 20th February 1856, the
amount of costs incurred in the trial of cases before said Court
at its Saturday's sessions, from 1st January 1853, to 1st January
1856.

Also the items of said costs as to the officers to whom the same
were payable.                                           

Also the fines imposed.              

Also to whom said fines were paid.

Also whether said fines were paid into the Treasury and when.

Also the amount of fines imposed by said Court from 1st Jan-
uary 1853, to 1st January 1856, in all cases whatever, specifying
the cases in which said fines were imposed and the amount of
each fine.

Also to whom said fines were payable and to whom they were
paid.               

Also that Samuel Hindes, Esq., the late sheriff of Baltimore
city do report to this House on or before 20th February 1856,
the amount of expenses of his office as Sheriff from his entrance
upon his duties to the close thereof, and the amount of his receipts
as such Sheriff during said time.

Also the amount of fines, and forfeitures received by him.
