The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:

Messrs. Speaker, Plowden, Griffith, Sudler, Dorsey, Neff,
Waters, Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Chilcoat, Rankin,
Wright, Cullings, Heath, Clark, Toadvine, Wilson of Somerset,
Dail, Frazier, Scott, Stubbs, Miller, Brooke, Bowie, Goldsbo-
rough, Rolph, Parker, Timmons, Smith, of Worcester, Davis,
Carper, Grove, Hauver, Wolfe, Duvall, Jarrett, Silver, Whitby,
Stack, Kennedy, Partridge, Smith of Baltimore city, Abbott,
Valiant, Lester, Hugg, Askew, Harrington, Fiery, Witmer,
Loughridge, Corby, Harding, Hall, Tower, Wickes, Kildow,
Frey, Brown, Smith of Carroll, Buffington, Stewart, Rowles.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Brooke presented a memorial of 39 residents of the village
of Bladensburg in Prince George's county praying the modifi-
cation of the act of 1854, chapter 137;

Which was referred to the Prince George's county delegation.

Also a memorial of 20 citizens of Prince George's county pray-
ing a repeal or modification of the act passed January Session,
1854, chapter 196;

Which was referred to the Prince George's county delegation.

Mr. Hall presented ft petition of Isaac Hartshorne and 27 oth-
er citizens of Howard, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery counties
for a change in the road laws of this State;

Which was referred to the Committee on Roads.             

Mr. Fiery presented a petition asking the incorporation of St.
Peters church in Clearspring, Washington county;.

Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.

Mr. Wolfe presented a petition of fifty-one citizens of Frede-
rick county praying for a law to equalize taxation in this State;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Sudler presented a petition of 43 citizens of Kent county
in relation to free negroes and slaves;

Which was referred to the Committee on Colored Population,
