they may obtain, can probably be raised from that source without
detriment to the rights, interests, or convenience of the citizens
of the State, and said Committee are hereby authorized, should
they deem it expedient to do so, to correspond with the competent
authorities of the State of Virginia, with a view to produce con-
cert of action between the two States on this subject, and that
said Committee have leave to report by bill or otherwise;

Which was adopted.                                           

A bill entitled, an act to refund to the President and Directors
of the Washington county bank an over-payment of certain State
taxes on its capital stock, erroneously made in the year 1853;

Was read the second time.                 

A bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from the Llangol-
len Mining Company, to Cornelius Kight;

Was read the second time.                        

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Mayor and Councilmen
of the city of Cumberland, to increase the annual levy of taxes in
said city;

On motion of Mr. Tower,                           

                                                                 

The said bill was postponed until to-morrow.               

A bill entitled, an act entitled, an act to make valid a deed from
the Llangollen Mining Company to Andrew Mullen;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to lay out and establish a new election
district in Carroll county, to be called district number eleven, or
New Windsor District;

Was read the second time.                         

                             

On motion of Mr. Rankin,

The House adjourned.
