294              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 12,

A bill entitled, an act supplementary to an act entitled, an act
to authorise the County Commissioners of Howard county to levy
a sum of money to build a school house in Primary School Dis-
trict number six in Howard county passed at January Session
1854, chapter 93;                                          

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Commissioners of Anne
Arundel and Prince George's counties, to levy a sum of money
to repair or rebuild the bridge, known as Priest Bridge, over the
Patuxuent River;                                             

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to appropriate a sum of money to Na-
thaniel Duke, clerk of the Circuit Court for Culvert county, for
certain fees due him by the State;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act for the relief of Ellen White, generally
known as Ellen Savoy, a free negro woman of Philadelphia, in
the State of Pennsylvania;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act for the relief of Thomas Warfield and
his wife and children free negroes of the District of Columbia;

Was read the second time.                                           

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Clerk of the Circuit
Court for Howard county, to have one of the index books in his
office re-bound;

Was read the second time.            

A bill entitled, an act to release the Virginia and Maryland
Bridge Company at Shepherdstown, from certain taxes;

On motion Mr. Brengle,

The said bill was recommitted to the Committee on Ways and
Means.

On motion of Mr. Loughridge,
The rules were suspended to take up for the third reading.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the Comptroller to appoint
his chief Clerk Comptroller pro tem, and to make his bond re-
sponsible for the acts of said clerk, done by virtue of such ap-
pointment;
