The House proceeded with the ordinary business of the day.

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Trustees of the Meth-
odist Episcopal Church of Fork Town Somerset county;

Mr. Partridge offered the following amendment:

"And further provided that the extent of land they shall hold at

any one time, shall not exceed five acres."

Amendment assented to.

The said bill was then read the second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the Appeal Tax Court of
Baltimore city, to hear the appeal of Murray and Hazlehurst;

Was read the second time.                                               

A bill entitled, an act to appropriate a sum of money to pay
George W. Powell, late Sheriff of Calvert county, for certain fees
due him by the State;                                            

Was read the second time.           

A bill entitled, an act to direct the Orphans' Court of Caro-
line county in the distribution of the school fund of said county;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Trustees of Mount St.
Mary's Hall, Hampden, a Literary Institution in Baltimore


Mr. Frazier submitted the following amendment:

"And be it enacted that the Legislature holds the right to alter,
amend or repeal at pleasure."

Which was adopted,                                                             

On motion of Mr. Partridge,                                     

It was reconsidered to enable him to offer the following amend-
ment:

10th line of 1st section after "mixed" insert "provided how-
ever, that the said corporation shall not at any one time hold pro-
perty altogether exceeding one hundred thousand dollars in amount
or value;                        

Which was adopted.

Said bill was then read the second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
