284               JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS          [Feb. 12,

Mr. Jarrett presented a petition from sundry citizens of Har-
ford county, for a bridge over Deer Creek, on the road leading
from Nicholas H. Nelson's Mill to the Pennsylvania line.

Which was referred to the Harford county delegation.

Mr. Dorsey presented a petition of Thomas Hyde and ninety-
four other citizens of Anne Arundel county, against the repeal of
the duck law of 1854.                                    

Which was referred to the Anne Arundel county delegation.

Mr. Griffith presented a petition of Wm. Cacey and others, of
Kent county, asking for the better protection of the weighing of
grain in the city of Baltimore.                                         

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Clark presented a petition of Samuel P. Dickinson, and
sundry other citizens of the town of Trappe, in Talbot county,
praying for the passage of an act to incorporate the said
town.

Which was referred to Committee on Corporations.

Mr. Wickes presented a petition from one hundred and thirty
citizens of Cumberland praying that Joseph Spriggs may
be compensated for the loss of a negro under circumstances
therein mentioned.

Which was referred to Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Whitby presented the petition of J. Hopkins Tarr and fifty
other citizens of Caroline county, asking compensation to the
widow of Wm. A. Breeding, deceased, for the arrest of David
Thomas, free negro, for the murder of Wm. Butler, of Caroline
county.                                                                               

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Wickes presented a petition of eighteen citizens of Dis-
trict No. 12 of Allegany county, praying for an additional justice
of the peace and constable in said district.

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.             

On motion of Mr. Rowles,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to incorporate the
Howard Bank of Howard county.

                                                                                                            

Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.
