Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Clark presented a petition of Joseph Bruff and others, trus-
tees of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Parsonage in Talbot
county to sell the old Parsonage and premises, and purchase a
new one.

Which was referred to Messrs. Clark, Roberts and Slack.

Also presented a petition of Wm. P. Leaverton and other
citizens of Talbot county praying for the passage of an act to lay
out a new School District in said county and to build a School
House therein.

Which was referred to Messrs. Clark, Roberts and Stack.

Also presented a petition of Mary Adaline Stevens of Talbot
county praying for a divorce "a vinculo matrimonii" from her
husband Hooper B. Stevens.

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

Also presented a petition of Richard Thomas, Esq., and sundry
other citizens of Talbot county asking the passage of an act to
allow one Joseph Bantum, (free negro) to return to the State of

Maryland.

Which was referred to the Committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Miller presented a petition of forty-nine citizens of the
town of North East and vicinity opposed to any law conferring on
the town commissioners of that place inquisitoral power to say
who shall have license to sell or who shall not.

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Askew presented a petition of Hugh Bolton, Hugh Cooper,
and others remonstrating against the passage of a law giving Jus-
tices of the Peace Criminal Jurisdiction.

Which was referred to Baltimore city delegation.

Mr. Partridge presented the remonstrance of Richard Hill of
Cecil country against the consent of the Legislature to the bequest
in favor of the West Nottingham Church,                                   

                         

Laid on the table.

On motion of Mr Hall,                       

Leave was granted the Montgomery county delegation to bring
in a bill to incorporate the Montgomery Lodge, No. 88, of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in Damascus, Montgomery
county.
