MONDAY, February 11th, 1856.

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:

Messrs. Speaker, Harris, Griffith, Sudler, Dorsey, Waters,
Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Wright, Clark, Toadvine, Dail, Fra-
zier, Thomas, Miller, Bowie, Goldsborough, Parker, Timmons,
Smith of Worcester, Brengle, Carper, Jarrett, Whitby, Kennedy,
Partridge, Smith, of Baltimore city, Abbott, Askew, Fiery, Wit-
mer, Reichard, Loughridge, Harding, Hall, Tower, Kildow,
Frey, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington, Stewart, Rowles.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled an act to repeal an act entitled an act to regulate
fisheries in the waters of the Potomac River within the jurisdic-
tion of Maryland and to protect the breed of fish therein.           

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Judiciary.

Also, a bill entitled an act to authorized the State Tresasurer,
upon the warrant of the Comptroller, to pay over to Hannah A.
Constable, widow and Executrix, the salary of her husband for
the quarter ending October the first, 1855.                                 

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Claims.           

Mr. Timmons presented the petition of James Harmanson and
twenty-six other citizens of Worcester county praying the Legis-
lature to remit a certain fine imposed upon said Harmanson by
the Circuit Court of Worcester county.

Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Reichard presented a petition of sundry citizens of Wash-
ington country approving of the act of 1846 controlling the grant-
ing of licenses for the sale of ardent spirits within two miles of the
College of St. James in said county, and praying that said law
may not be repealed.

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Dorsey presented the petition of Dr. S. H. Weems and
other citizens of Anne Arundel county for the registration of birth
deaths and marriages.
