250              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS. Feb. 8,

trict No. 6, in Howard county, passed at January session 1854,
chapter 93;

                     

Also on a bill entitled, an act to authorize the clerk of the cir-
cuit court for Howard county to have one of the Index Books in
his office rebound;            

Were read the first time.

                                                                                                                           

Mr. Merrick from the Select Committee reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to provide for the repairing of the old, and
the construction of additional public buildings at Annapolis;

Was read the first time.                                                 

Mr. Bowie asked that the Select Committee to whom was re-
ferred the bill entitled, an act for the relief of the sureties on the of-
ficial bonds of Thomas H. Osborne of Charles, former collector
for the third collection district of Prince George's county to be
discharged from further consideration of the bill, and that it be re-
ferred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Kildow introduced a bill entitled, an act to make valid a
deed from the Llangollen Mining Company to Cornelius Kight;

Was read the first time.                                          

Also on a bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed from the
Llangollen Mining Company to Andrew Mullen;

Was read the first time.

                                                                                                                                                                   

A bill entitled, an act to pay Mountjoy, B. Luckett for services
rendered the State in the case of the State against Basil Eves of
Frederick county, indicted for murder;                 

Amendment proposed by the Committee :

Strike out "one hundred and fifty" and insert "one hundred
in the third line."                 

Amendment assented to.                                         

The said bill was then read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.                    

                                     

A bill entitled, an act to make compensation to William J. Byrd,
for a certain case argued in the Court of Appeals for the State of
Maryland, by the appointment of the Governor thereof.

Amendment proposed by the committee.

Strike out "one hundred" in the fourth line, and insert "fifty;"
Amendment assented to,
