Leave was granted to the Howard county delegation to intro-
duce a bill to authorise the clerk of the Circuit court of Howard
county, to have one of the Index Books of said County Court
rebound;                                                     

On motion of Mr. Dorsey,

Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel and Howard county
delegations to bring, in a bill supplemental to an act to regulate in-
spections in the City of Baltimore ;

Mr. Carper from the committee on Internal Improvements, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Co-
lumbia and Port Deposite Rail Road Company ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr Sadler from the committee on Colored Population, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act to authorise William M. Kemp,
Emma A. Kemp and Lizett F. Amelung, to emancipate certain
slaves, with permission to said slaves, when emancipated, to re-
main in this State;

Which were read the first time.                               

Also, on a bill entitled, an act to authorise William T. G.
Polk, administrator of Arnold Cottman, free negro, to execute a
deed of manumission for certain slaves therein mentioned ;

And also favorably on a bill entitled, an act for the relief of Ma-
hala Jones, a free negro woman of Washington City, District of
Columbia, and her children Bernard Jones and Ella Jones, also of
the District of Columbia ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr Wickes from a select committee reported favorably on a bill
entitled, an act to authorise the Mayor and Councilmen of the
City of Cumberland, to become a purchaser and shareholder of
the capital stock of the Pittsburgh and Connellsville Rail Road
Company, to issue bonds in payment of said stock, and to provide
by taxation for the liquidation of said bonds;

Mr. Hugg from the Select Committee, reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act to prevent the selling of any article or articles
of merchandise, and the opening of any place of business in the
city of Baltimore, on Sunday:                            

                                          

Which was read.               

Mr. Daniel from the Select Committee, reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act authorising the compromise of assaults and
batteries, and supplementary to the act of 1831, chapter 208;

Which was read.
